Rework of logo


So I choose a new design for my ice cream shop. I felt limited with my other logo color pallet wise and I feel my rework of my design of incorporating a penguin my favorite animal gives me more options as to color pallets and design element. I posted a preliminary design for my ice cream shop a couple weeks ago. At thesis meeting last week Erich suggest to clean up the edges of my penguin design which I did as you will see. I also did a second design for my logo and wanted to hear everyones thought's on what looks better. One is very shape like and modern while the other is cute. I sort of like the second one I did but wanted to put it out to the group before I start putting my logo on the rest of my work. The one on top is #1 (the original that I fixed) and the one underneath that is the second one I did this past weekend.

    Like the top one. Do you need to say "ICE CREAM"? Why not merely , "Little Blue", or "Blue Ice"??

    i think the top one looks very kiddish and the bottom while round and less detailed might draw a larger more general crowd

    Top is cute and traditional but the bottom has some defined style to it. I'm leaning towards the bottom one. I could see it's style fitting well with some of the cards I have already seem for this. It feels kinda cool. You do have to watch your spacing the penguin at the bottom is super close to the end of "Blue" on the left.

    I like the bottom one- I think it would be cool if you played with the text a little. For instance, maybe you could shift the text to one side of the logo, etc. Cute penguin though.
    I also agree with Stephan- saying "ice cream" is a little uneccessary- if you wanted to say something after "Little Blue", what about using "Creamery" or "Treats"? Something slightly different.
    Just some thoughts :)

    Thanks guys for all the help, I'm leaning towards the bottom one myself as well. I think playing around with the text could be interesting specially getting rid of the ice cream part and replacing it or just calling it little blue.
