Blog #1: Idea

My blogging has also been delayed- I changed my idea completely: from a motion piece about the stereotypical hero, to an athletic company website/catalog. This athletic company is nameless as of yet (I kind of like the name quench...playing around right now). My company is going to rival brands like Adidas, Nike, etc. because a certain percentage of all my company's sales will go to charity, as opposed to the name brands, where the money is directly pocketed. I want the style of my company to be simplistic and organic-looking, yet fun at the same time. One company that I am specifically rivaling is Life is Good, Inc. who's mission is to spread the power of optimism. Life is Good also has a charitable non-profit foundation that raises money to help kids all over the world, and I want to do something similar within my company as well. (it's also ironic that I'm doing this, because I just applied for a job here a couple days ago- fingers crossed!). As of right now, I've just been researching, writing, and sketching. I also need to refamiliarize myself with Dreamweaver- I'll probably do some light (heavy) reading so I can make my site that much more awesome.

Stay tuned!

  1. I like what you plan to do for your thesis prj! i wanted to do a sports store but i got discouraged after trying to come up w an effect, catchy name and design. You might want to be careful about the name Quench.... that name is quickly linked when I think of that name with Gatorade so you might want to design something that does not look like something Gatorade would put out as a design (if that makes sense) I like how your company is going to be unique and donate some of the profits to charity that makes you stand out more compared to ADIDAS and Nike, etc. Cant wait to see what you come up with!

  2. Th name is good but I have to agree with Lisa, it makes me thirsty not want to buy clothes. But there is something to it's verb like qualities. What would be a synonym-like of quench but instead speak to helping.

Dreamweaver is good to jump into but also start thinking about dissecting the sites you like for what they consist of. It will help you narrow down what you need/want to build.
